This project celebrates the potential for Limerick Civic Trust with Cracking Light to become a leader in seeding environmental system change working in, & with local communities

Limerick Civic Trust are collaborating with Cracking Light Productions on a film project that will highlight the local connections and networks that the Trust has built over four decades through its work in buildings and green spaces across the city. In Climate Action we talk a lot about system change and acting locally; this project celebrates the potential for Limerick Civic Trust to become a pioneer seeding environmental system change working in, and with, local communities. It’s all about the people that will keep the heart of the city ticking into the future.

Limerick Civic Trust and Cracking light productions have connected to the cultural heritage of the Island Orchard as a rich offer to begin a conversation about local food and food sovereignty.

The group have connected with Irish Seed Savers and asked them to save the seeds of this species found in the Island Orchards.

The collaboration brought a number of Civic Trust general operative employees from LCT to Seed Savers to engage in skill building workshops that will encourage thinking in support of biodiversity and particularly looking at seed saving as a process.

They are looking at retrieving a number of the Island Apple Tree Seeds and construct a small exhibition piece that explains its past and potential future as a local food source in the city area.

This will be a documentary film process which will create a portrait of the diverse ecosystem of people who make Limerick Civic Trust what it is.
