Planning permission has now been approved for the deployment of a river turbine at Thomond Weir as part of the +Cityxchange project. Limerick’s own Gkinetic is a world renowned developer of hydrokinetic river turbines. As part of CityxChange a river turbine is due to be deployed in the Shannon at Thomond Weir in 2023. Explore how the local community can come together to harness the huge potential of this renewable energy technology. Earlier engagement with river stakeholders led to refinements in turbine design and a change in the proposed location.
