St Johns Brass and Reed Band has opened up its premises to use by the community of Garryowen.

Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG7) Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG11) Climate Action (SDG13)

St Johns Brass and Reed Band has opened up its premises to use by the community of Garryowen.  A  range of activities now take place in the Band Hall: from Ceoltas through Confidence Building to Yoga.

The band are delighted to be installing solar panels in its premises on Garryowen Road.  Funded by CityXChange Open Innovation Call 3 through the Urban Innovation Department in Limerick City and County Council and Limerick Regeneration these panels will not only save energy for the community building, but the project also forms part of a wider strategy being implemented in the community for Garryowen to become a Sustainable Energy Community.

Supported by Garryowen CDP and partnering with Garryowen Residents Association, local schools, the Markets Field and the Council, St Johns Brass and Reed Band wants to see a Garryowen that can achieve energy security, reduce carbon energy use and develop its own energy.
